Abstract

Higher education literacy is an essential competency that enables students to make informed decisions about pursuing higher education based on accurate and reliable information. This study aimed to analyze the higher education literacy of students at SMA Negeri 10 Merangin based on the American Library Association (ALA) Standards for Higher Education. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that students' higher education literacy remains at a developing level. Although students showed strong motivation to continue their studies, their ability to access information from official sources, evaluate the credibility of information, use information as a basis for decision-making, and communicate information academically was still limited. Therefore, schools should implement structured higher education literacy programs to better prepare students for higher education.
